Omtex was established by the late Shri J.B.Patel as a partnership concern in the year 1969. The range of the items manufactured in Omtex at that period of time were Underwears, Vests, T-shirts, Jock-straps, and Healthwear.

It was located at Parel, Bombay(India), Initially there was a modest workforce of 10-12 people. Late Shri J.B.Patel was a keen businessman as he introduced for the first time in India, Elasticated underwear of knitted cloth made on specially designed circular knitting machines imported from Fukhara, Japan.

Mr. Dilip Patel. Chairman of Omtex Healthwear Pvt. LTD. joined the business in the year 1980 after completion of his graduation in the field of commerce from bombay university. In a short span of time he got the nerves of the market and introduced better quality and designs for Jock-straps and a range of Body supporters.

In his search for excellence he earned a gold medal for his company which was awarded to him in the year 1984 by the Hon Governor of the state of Andhra Pradesh, Smt.Kusumben Joshi, At a function organised by Trans- World trade fair (Selection Award) at Hyderabad.

Mr. Vijay Patel, Managing Director of Omtex Healthwear Pvt.Ltd. joined the business in the year 1990. He put his outstanding technical skills to develop and design better products. He brought out the multicolor range in Jock-Straps. His efforts lead to a break through in the international market and their products found a very strong market in the UK.

Today this organization which was planted as a sapling by late Shri.J.B.Patel has grown into a fully blossomed tree with a workforce of a nearly 100 employees and offices at Parel (Bombay) and Borivli (Bombay).

Apart from our commitment to the market and consumers, we have also paid attention to the society in which we live. We have sponsered cricket competitions for under 18, under 19 and under 21 supported by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Many free medical camps have been organized by us for magnetic therapy enlisting well qualified doctors. Our participation in major health related exhibitions and exhibitions by Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) has brought us in direct contact with actual users/consumers. Their feedback and demands have spurred more improvements in our products. Today most of our Indian National Cricket team members use Omtex Jock Straps and clothing.
